Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 2

Overview:

Full Level 2 Beauty Therapy Diploma consists of 5 units:

Manicure and Pedicure (3 days)
Maintenance and care procedures for the nails and skin; the application of colour to the nails; French manicure technique; american manicure technique; single layer varnishing; multi-layer varnishing; paraffin wax and warm oil treatments for nourishment; the study of the structure of the nail; contra-indications; client counselling/consultation techniques

Waxing (2 days)
Techniques for hair removal from all areas of the body and face; different methods: hot wax and warm wax; studying the structure of the hair and how hair grows; post-treatment care techniques; contra-indications to treatments; client consultation / counselling techniques

Eye Treatments (1 day)
You will need to be able to provide eyebrow shaping treatments using a variety of work techniques, tint eyebrows and lashes for clients with different colouring characteristics (i.e. fair, red, dark and white) and perm eyelashes to meet client requirements

A 24 hour sensitivity test is required for this course. Please contact the school to arrange your patch-test prior to your course.

Make-up (2days)
Skin Analysis, Skin preparation: Cleansing, Toning, Moisturising, Exfoliating, Working with different face shapes, Working with different skin colours, Product awareness, Good hygiene techniques, Colour correcting, The colour wheel, Highlighting & shading, Concealing, Selection and application of correct foundation colour, Blending of make-up, Application of eye make-up, Client consultation techniques

Facials (2 days)
Anatomy & Physiology of the head, neck, and upper torso including the skin, muscles and bones; analysing the skin; cleansing the skin; balancing/toning the skin; extraction; selection and application of different types of face masque (setting and non-setting); full facial massage routine; client counselling/consultation techniques

In addition to the above students will need to achieve core units in health, safety and customer service.

After each module (1, 2 or 3 days) students will then go away to complete a programme of home theory study using any books or course notes provided. There will be practical and written assignments which can be completed in the students own time before attending any assessments.

This course is designed to be flexible so you may choose the dates you would like to attend for each unit. You will also be able to change the dates during the course as long as you give 1 months notice.
